Simple glazing is a thing of the past. Today, double glazing is master and is essential in new construction as in renovations. If double glazing is so popular, it is because it offers important qualities of insulation that are necessary for the comfort of our homes. A double glazed window has two panes. Between these two panes, a layer of air or gas (krypton). The amount of air or gas varies depending on the model. Those made of gas are more efficient but also significantly more expensive. Double-glazed windows are ideal for optimizing the sound and thermal insulation of a home. Air and gas are excellent insulators since they protect against cold and humidity. Certain models of double-glazed window ensure perfect sound insulation. They are particularly popular in urban areas.

The different types of double glazing
There are different types of double glazed windows: - Standard double glazing which reduces heat loss by half compared to conventional glazing or single glazing. It is the most common model which has two 4 mm thick glass plates between which air is inserted. The air gap is 12 mm or 16 mm thick. - Low emission double glazing which is composed of 4 mm thick layered glass and a 16 mm air gap. It reduces heat losses by a third compared to simple glazing. In the same category, we also find low-emission double glazing in which the air is replaced by argon gas. This model halves heat loss. - The heated glass which is intended for cold regions and which, thanks to the sun's rays, returns heat to the heating system of the house to which it is connected.
